GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alongside Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, will virtually lay the foundation stone for the Assam State Transport Corporation's (ASTC) Inspection & Certification (I&C) Centre in Guwahati today. The event will take place at ISBT, Betkuchi, Guwahati, today.
The Inspection and Certification Centre will be offering features, including:
- Vehicle Road Worthiness Checks: The facility is expected to employ automated testing equipment to assess vehicle safety parameters, ensuring roadworthiness.
- Enhanced Road and Vehicle Safety: By rigorously evaluating vehicles and enforcing safety standards, the centre will contribute to improved road and vehicle safety.
- Promoting Vehicle Modernisation: It will establish an ecosystem to facilitate the modernisation of vehicles, aligning with the latest technological advancements.
- End of Life Vehicle Identification: The centre will identify vehicles that have reached the end of their operational life.
- Scientific Evaluation: Vehicles will undergo comprehensive evaluations based on predefined parameters, employing a scientific approach.
- Reducing Traffic Congestion: One of the centre's key objectives is to mitigate traffic congestion resulting from vehicle breakdowns and accidents.
