GUWAHATI: Former Additional Director General of Police (ADGP-SB) Pallav Bhattacharya (IPS) has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).
Meanwhile, IAS Sanjib Gohain Baruah and Vice Principal of SB Deorah College Niranjan Kalita have been appointed as the member of APSC.
It is to be mentioned that prior to Bhattacharya, Rakesh Kumar Paul was the Chairman of the APSC, who is currently behind bars for several corruption cases in APSC examination.
Further it has been decided that the Assam State Government that no political persons would serve in the APSC in order to curb corruption.
