Flood claims life of a baby elephant in Baksa district, Assam

GUWAHATI: Locals of Chinadi area in Baksa district of Assam recovered a carcass of a wild elephant calf which was reportedly swept away by floodwater on June 26.

According to the locals, the carcass of the elephant was floating at the bank of Diring river and was suspected to be drowned by the flood water coming in from Bhutan hills.

Meanwhile, forest officials after being informed by the locals reached the spot to take possession of the carcass.
