Five Decomposed Bodies Of Missing Assam Workers Located In Arunachal Pradesh

 

GUWAHATI: In a fresh development, five decomposed bodies of the total 19 missing workers from Assam who were employed in Arunachal Pradesh have been located from the dense forest between Huri and Tapa in Kurung Kumey District in Arunachal Pradesh. The information was provided by a senior district official on Friday. 

Eighteen workers from Assam have been reported missing since July 5, from a construction camp in Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh. The workers were engaged in a road construction project for Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

Speaking to media, Deputy Commissioner Nighee Bengia said that the rescue team found five decomposed bodies in the Huri and Tapa area on different days—one on July 25, three on July 26, and one on July 28. 

According to Bengia, the death toll stands at six till date. One more body was found drowned in the Furak River in Arunachal Pradesh a few days ago. 

The rescue operation has been continuing for a couple of days.  Further details are awaited.
