GUWAHATI: A fire broke out on the morning of Thursday, January 16, at the Milan Mandir wedding hall near Sadarghat in Silchar.

The blaze, which spread rapidly, consumed not only the banquet hall but also a godown attached to the premises. At least four nearby houses were gutted in the inferno.
Fire tenders rushed to the scene to bring the flames under control, but the fire had already caused significant damage. The financial loss is estimated to be several lakhs.
An official from the Malugram police outpost stated, “We were informed about the fire at the wedding banquet hall near the Sadarghat bridge at round 7:30 AM. Fire tenders promptly reached the site. The cause of the fire remains unclear, and an investigation is currently underway.”
