Fire Breaks Out In Private Tents Near Maha Kumbh Mela

 

GUWAHATI: A fire broke out in a group of private tents located approximately six kilometres outside the main Kumbh Mela area on Thursday, January 30. The Uttar Pradesh fire authorities responded quickly and extinguished the blaze. No casualties were reported.

Addressing media, CFO said, “The fire broke out in privately erected tents near the main Kumbh Mela area. These tents are not authorised.”

The fire incident occured a day after stampede took place in Maha Kumbh Mela, where at least 30 people died and several were injured. 

This incident follows a larger fire on Sunday, January 19, which affected Sector 19 of the Mahakumbh Tent City.

 The Mahakumbh which began on January 13 and continues until February 26, has attracted over seven crore devotees and saints who have taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. The religious festival draws pilgrims from across India and the globe.
