Family of 6 Falls Severely Ill After Consuming ‘Ganja Sabzi’ Instead of Methi

GUWAHATI: A family falls sick in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj after accidentally cooking ‘Ganja sabzi’.

The incident which took place in Miyaganj village on Saturday when a vegetable vendor sold Ganja to a man named Nitesh claiming it to be methi (fenugreek leaves).

His sister-in-law cooked the meal with the weed and the family of six later consumed the dish.

The family complained of deteriorating health and asked neighbours to call a doctor after which they all fainted.

The family was taken to the hospital and after interrogation, the police found the cooked ‘ganja sabzi’ in a vessel along with an uncooked packet of weed left in the kitchen.

The police then seized both the cooked and uncooked weed and detained the vegetable seller soon after. 

The vegetable vendor, on being enquired why he had sold weed to the man, said that it was meant to be a joke. 

A case will be registered and complaint has been filed about the incident.
