GUWAHATI: Protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, the families of 855 martyrs have decided to return the memento conferred unto their sons, husbands, and daughters for their sacrifice during Assam Agitation.
Earlier on December 10, 2016, the current BJP led government in Assam honoured each of the martyrs’ family with Rs 5 Lakhs at Khanapara playground in Guwahati.
Speaking to the media, the bereaved family members stated that they were going to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Now that the bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha, Swahid Parial Samannayrakhi Parishad, an organisation of the Assam Agitation martyrs has decided to return the honour to protest against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
