GUWAHATI: Acting on undisclosed intelligence inputs, the Cachar Police, in collaboration with the 147th battalion of the CRPF, executed a successful operation on Silchar-Kalain Road.
The operation led to the apprehension of a 22-year-old individual and the recovery of 97 detonators and 96 fuses concealed in a bag.
Simultaneously, another operation targeted the illegal trade of Burmese areca nuts. A truck and an SUV were detained during the operation. Law enforcement authorities also seized 1 tonne of areca nuts packed in 20 bags from an individual who has been taken into custody.
Cachar Superintendent of Police (SP) Numal Mahatta confirmed that necessary legal actions have been initiated in both cases. Further investigations are underway to determine the source and intended use of the seized explosive materials, and to dismantle any potential connections to illicit networks involved in the trade of prohibited substances.
