GUWAHATI: In response to allegations of physical assault by Abhisekh Mahajan, Post Graduate Trainee (PGT) of Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G), on a patient admitted to the O&G department at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), an enquiry committee has been constituted on April 18.

The committee comprises the following doctors and faculty members of GMCH:
• B. P. Das, Professor and Head of Department (HOD) of O&G, GMCH - Chairperson
• Kanakeswar Bhuyan, Professor and HOD of Surgery, GMCH - Member
• Pankaj Adhicari, Professor and HOD of Dermatology, GMCH - Member Secretary
• Pradip Kr Das, Additional Superintendent, GMCH - Member

The committee has been tasked with investigating the incident and submitting a report to the superintendent of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital within 24 hours. The superintendent emphasised the urgency of the matter.
