The incident occurred in Tangabari, Boko, where 63-year-old Warlington W. Sangma, a resident of Rajapara near Jongakhuli, was killed by the wild elephant.
The attack happened while several villagers were reportedly guarding paddy fields in the forest area at night when a herd of elephants entered the fields. Sangma was reportedly trampled and dragged over a significant distance, leading to his immediate death. This comes just days after an elephant died from electrocution after coming into contact with protective electric fencing set up around the paddy fields.
In response to the recent escalation, Forest Department officials arrived on the scene to investigate the incident.
