Election Commission To Hold Conference Of Chief Electoral Officers

 

GUWAHATI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a two-day conference for Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) from all states and Union Territories on March 4-5, at the India International Institute of Democracy & Election Management in New Delhi. The notification was issued on Monday, February 24, by the Election Commission of India.

This is the first such conference since Gyanesh Kumar took office as Chief Election Commissioner. CEOs have been instructed to include District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) in the conference, recognising their vital roles in local election administration.

The conference will focus on modernising election management. The first day will address key topics including IT infrastructure, communication strategies, social media engagement, and the legal responsibilities of election officials. 

On the second day, CEOs will present action plans based on the previous day’s discussions.  

The ECI emphasises the importance of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing among election officials to strengthen the electoral process.
