GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Assam apprehended an individual on the alleged charges of bribery in South Salmara on February 5.
The individual identified as Intaz Mondal, in-charge Deputy CEO of Zilla Parishad, South Salamara, and also in-charge Block Development Officer (BDO) of Fekamari was arrested today. The arrest took place following Mondal's alleged acceptance of a demanded bribe within the premises of the Zilla Parishad office, related to payments for works under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Anti-Corruption Unit conducted a sting operation resulting in Mondal being caught red-handed during the illicit transaction.
DVAC took to X to put out, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Intaz Mondal,i/c Dy CEO, Zilla Parishad, South Salamara &i/c BDO Fekamari, after he accepted demanded bribe in O/O the Zilla Parishad for payment of bills related to works under Jal Jeevan Mission.”

The accused is now in custody, and further investigations are underway to delve into the details of the corruption charges.
