The phenomenon occurred hours after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather warning for the day, cautioning residents about the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by surface winds and light to moderate rainfall.
According to the IMD's predictions, the city was expected to witness adverse weather conditions due to a shift in wind patterns and atmospheric instability. The advisory had also highlighted the possibility of gusty winds that could affect daily activities and advised the public to take necessary precautions.
The dust storm began at around 12:30 PM, covering large sections of the city under a blanket of dust. Areas with ongoing construction activities were particularly affected, with local traffic disrupted for a short duration due to low visibility. Commuters and pedestrians reported difficulties as dust levels intensified for a brief period.
No major damage or casualties have been reported as of now, but authorities are monitoring the situation and have urged residents to remain indoors where possible, especially those with respiratory conditions or allergies that may be triggered by dust exposure.
