Drugs Worth ₹100 Crore Seized In Karimganj

 

GUWAHATI: In a joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) and Karimganj Police, under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Parthasarathi Mahanta and Superintendent of Police (SP) Partha Protim Das, have seized a substantial quantity of drugs at Suprakandi, Nilam Bazar Police Station, around 2:15 PM on January 9.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of 5.1 kilograms of heroin, along with 64,000 Yaba tablets. Additionally, four packets of foreign cigarettes were discovered and seized during the operation. The vehicle used in the transportation, a hatchback, has also been impounded.

Four individuals have been apprehended in connection with the drug seizure. They are Nur Ahmed (driver) of Patharkandi, Karimganj, Zosangliani, Ramngheaka, and Lalchamliana, all residents of Thenzawl, Mizoram.

This drug seizure is considered one of the largest in Eastern India in terms of market value. The estimated value of the seized drugs is at least ₹100 crore.
