Dr. S. Jaishankar Begins Assam Visit With Kaziranga Safari Ahead Of Advantage Assam 2.0

 

GUWAHATI: External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar, accompanied by Ambassadors and Heads of Missions, began their visit to Assam with an early morning safari at Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Monday, February 24. The group enjoyed both an elephant and jeep safari in the Kohora Range.

Speaking to mediapersons later, Jaishankar said he enjoyed both the safaris. He said while he had the experience of jeep safaris, the elephant safari was for the first time. “The elephant safari allows you to go closer to the animals,” he said.  He said he could see several animals, including rhinos, buffaloes and deer, but didn’t have any luck with the Royal Bengal Tiger. Jaishankar and other delegates also fed the elephants sugarcane and bananas among other things.

This visit comes just ahead of Dr. Jaishankar's participation in the Jhumoir Binandini Event later today, marks the start of a packed schedule leading up to Advantage Assam 2.0, a major event set to take place on February 25-26 in Guwahati. 

The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit aims to position Assam as a key investment hub, promoting economic growth and business opportunities.
