Don Bosco Bids Farewell To Sebastian Mathew, Alex Mathew New Principal


GUWAHATI: It was an emotional day in Don Bosco School, Panbazar on Wednesday, May 22 as students and teachers bid farewell to outgoing Principal Father Sebastian Mathew. Father Alex Mathew is the new Principal of the school, who took charge on May 20.

Father Sebastian will take charge as the provincial of the province covering Central Assam, Lower Assam, Garo Hills and the hill areas. He will be heading all the Don Bosco institutes falling under these areas. 

Sebastian Mathew served as the Principal of Don Bosco School, Panbazar for ten years after serving as administrator for two years. In the twelve years of his association, the school witnessed various changes.

Talking to GPlus, Father Sebastian Mathew said, “I always tried to keep up the name of the institution with more quality and discipline. I was at times harsh for maintaining the discipline of the school.” 

The school witnessed the visit of Rector Major of Don Bosco during his tenure. 

Father Alex Mathew was Parish Priest in South West Garo Hills before taking over as the Principal. In 2016, he founded Don Bosco College in Bongaingaon and was Principal for six years.

Talking about challenges, Father Alex Mathew said, “Firstly, limited space of the school is a challenge and boosting motivation of some teachers is another,” adding that he will try to grow the school and gradually understand other challenges and changes which the school requires. 

Several programmes were organised by the students and teachers to bid farewell to the outgoing Principal in the auditorium of the school.
