GUWAHATI: The district magistrate, Kamrup (Metro) district ordered the additional district magistrate, Sadnek Singh, to conduct an enquiry into the incident after a Guwahati jail inmate died under mysterious circumstance in the jail campus on August 2.
The district magistrate issued an order on August 2 asking Singh to submit his findings within 15 days “along with complete medical treatment record, health screening report, PM report, inquest report, CD of PM and Viscera examination report for onward submission to the NHRC/AHRC.”

The deceased identified as Rahul Amin who was serving a jail term, was previously arrested in connection to money laundering and a power tiller scam in Assam.
However, the wife of the deceased smells foul in regard to her husband's death as Amin was absolutely fine when she met him on the evening of August 1.
Reportedly, the Guwahati Central Jail authorities said that Amin underwent medical treatment after falling sick on August 1.
