Discussions On Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit And Key Development Projects Held In New Delhi

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union Ministers in New Delhi to discuss the state's development and preparations for the "Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit - Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025," scheduled for February 25-26,in Guwahati.

Sarma expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for announcing the establishment of a 12.7 lakh MT Urea Plant in Namrup, which is expected to drive industrial growth, generate employment, and support Assam's agricultural sector. He also invited PM Modi to attend the Mega Jhumoor performance at Sarusajai Stadium on February 24, where around 8,000 performers will participate.

In additional discussions, Sarma met with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, congratulating her on the Union Budget and thanking her for agreeing to chair the summit's valedictory session. He also met with Communications and DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to discuss the "I Way to Viksit Assam" session, which aims to enhance the state's digital infrastructure. 

Further discussions were held with Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on energy security and green energy transition, with Puri agreeing to lead the Hydrocarbons session at the summit. The Chief Minister also engaged with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal about expanding Assam’s export infrastructure, and with Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who reviewed the state’s highway projects and discussed a ₹1 lakh crore investment plan for road development.

Additionally, Sarma met IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to explore opportunities for Assam in the semiconductor industry. 

These high-level meetings are seen as a move to enhance Assam’s economic prospects and attract investments in the lead-up to the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit.
