GUWAHATI: Dispur police in a joint operation with the Karbi Anglong police have arrested an officer working in the Diphu treasury office on Monday (May 20). The arrest of treasury officer Amarendra Sharma was made from Choudhury Villa in Dispur.

According to reports, Sharma was arrested on charges of financial irregularities in Diphu treasury office. He had also been suspended from his post on April 10 and had been absconding since then.
Further, the Karbi Anglong police recovered Rs 5.5 lakhs from the office chamber of Amarendra Sharma in Diphu after conducting a raid.
