GUWAHATI: In anticipation of the upcoming election for the 13th Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) in Assam scheduled for January 8, 2024, Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa has made a fervent appeal to the residents of Dima Hasao to maintain peace and tranquility throughout the electoral process.
Gorlosa urged voters to actively contribute to setting an example of free and fair elections, asserting that this would bring 'name and fame' to the district.
Speaking at a press conference held at his official residence in Haflong, CEM Gorlosa disclosed that the final list of BJP party candidates for the elections would be concluded by December 17 or 18. The BJP plans to field candidates in all 28 constituencies, and Gorlosa highlighted the significant number of applicants from within the BJP, attributing it to the party's growing popularity in Dima Hasao.
Gorlosa also said that party tickets would be allocated based on merit, with a focus on individuals who have demonstrated dedicated service at the grassroots level. A delegation from the state BJP is presently visiting each constituency to assess the capabilities of potential candidates.
Assuring a fair and transparent distribution of party tickets, Gorlosa encouraged aspirants to remain united and supportive of the party's decisions, even if their candidacies were not selected. Gorlosa expressed optimism that the residents of Dima Hasao would recognize the party's commitment to both aspects and extend their support.
