GUWAHATI: Devajit Saikia is all set to step in as the interim Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) until elections are held for the position.

The role became vacant after Jay Shah began his term as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Saikia, currently serving as the Joint Secretary, will temporarily take over the responsibilities.
Saikia has been serving as the Joint Secretary, BCCI and is also the Advocate General of Assam.
The Indian Cricket Board is required to conduct elections for the Secretary post within 45 days of Shah vacating his office, with an announcement expected soon.
