GUWAHATI: Chemists in Assam are selling 25 different kinds of banned drugs without the consent of the state government.
It is to be mentioned that earlier, the Central Government had banned 328 drugs owing to its composition.

According to sources, 4500 pharmacies, the total number of pharmacies in the state, is being inspected by only 11 drug inspectors, which is not sufficient as these 11 medicine inspectors would have to check a total of 410 pharmacies each, which adds to 4500 in total.
Out of these 11 inspectors, 3 are senior inspectors and 8 are general inspectors.
Therefore, owing to this situation, chemists are also taking advantage of this and selling drugs which are banned by the central government.
