Dengue Outbreak Sparks Concern In Cachar District, One Dead

 

GUWAHATI: A surge in dengue cases has been reported in Assam's Cachar district with the highlight of one fatality, as per reports on November 20. 

According to media information, one person, identified as Dilip Kumar Nath, has succumbed to the illness, while more than 25 individuals are currently receiving treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).

In addition to those admitted to SMCH, an additional 10 individuals are under medical care at various private hospitals in the district. 

Dengue, a mosquito-borne viral infection, manifests with symptoms such as high fever, headaches, nausea, muscle or joint pain, and vomiting. In severe cases, if not promptly addressed, dengue can lead to a significant drop in blood platelets, posing a life-threatening risk. 

The health authorities in the Cachar district are engaged in managing and containing the outbreak, as per reports. Efforts are underway to provide necessary medical care, raise awareness about preventive measures, and facilitate the coordination of resources to address the growing health crisis.
