DC Mittal to make this year's Ambubachi Mela plastic free and maintain cleanliness

Guwahati: Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (M) Virendra Mittal, appealed for not to use plastic in this year’s Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple.

In a meeting at Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioners office, Mittal appealed Food and Water Suppliers (Bhandara) from various voluntary organizations who will be engaged at camps to keep pilgrims not to use any kind of plastic items and make this Mela as plastic free Ambubachi Mela.
 
The Ambubachi Mela will be held from 22nd June to 25th June.

He also said to maintain proper disposal mechanism for the leftover food items and to maintain cleanliness in each camp, so that the message can be spread all over India.
 
Instead of using plastic plate, cup, spoon etc. an appeal was made to use biodegradable one.

Food Safety officer S. Baruah also gave the relevant instructions to the food suppliers in the mela.
