D-voters names to be included in NRC if cleared by foreigners’ tribunal

GUWAHATI: The National Register of Citizenship (NRC) authority has instructed district administrations to include the names of Doubtful voters (D-voters) in the NRC list if their names are cleared by foreigners’ tribunal.

Official sources said that D-voters will have to submit the verdict of the foreigner tribunal to get their names included in the NRC list.

It is to be mentioned that D- Voters are barred from contesting elections and exercising their voting rights in Assam.

At present, the hearing of claims and objections related to the NRC list is under process.
