The 21-year-old Brevis, often nicknamed “Baby AB” for his explosive batting style reminiscent of AB de Villiers, brings solid T20 credentials to the CSK squad. He has featured in 81 T20 matches, amassing 1,787 runs with a personal best score of 162.
Brevis made his T20I debut for South Africa in 2023 and has represented the national side in 2 T20 Internationals so far.
Brevis was previously part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise, where he played 10 matches, showcasing glimpses of his powerful stroke play. He will join CSK at a contract value of ₹2.2 crore.
This move comes as CSK look to bolster their squad mid-season following the injury of promising Indian pacer Gurjapneet Singh. Brevis' addition is expected to provide depth and flexibility to CSK’s middle order, particularly with his aggressive batting and ability to change games rapidly.
The five-time IPL champions will be hoping Brevis can make an immediate impact as they push for a strong finish in this year’s tournament.
