GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 2640 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, September 21. The cases were detected from all across the state, out of 35,603 COVID-19 tests conducted. This was informed by the Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Sarma wrote, "Alert ~ 2640 #COVID cases detected today out of 35603 tests."
The positivity rate for the infection is 7.42%.
The state also recorded 16 deaths on Monday. The COVID-19 death toll in Assam stands at 578.
With this, the total number of COVID cases in Assam has gone up to 1,59,320.
Further, with 1,795 patients discharged from various hospitals within the last 24 hours, active cases in Assam stands at 29,609 while 1,29,130 persons have been cured of the virus.
