GUWAHATI: Were you stuck at a traffic jam today?
Well, Guwahati is facing a city-wide traffic congestion from the past two days as the authorities are busy giving an emergency makeover to the city roads.
With the President of India being scheduled to be in Assam for a two-day visit, the capital city is under an urgent 'cosmetic beautification'.
The forever spit stained dividers are getting a fresh layer of paint, road markings getting repainted, temporary repairing of roads getting done and accumulated dust are being cleared from the road sides ahead of the President’s visit.
While beautification of the city is always welcomed, especially when it is to please the eyes of visitors, the work is being done all throughout the day, irrespective of the busy traffic hours, rather than at night or when the vehicular traffic is light.
The closure of sections of main roads by workers have only resulted in a city-wide traffic slowdown.
While the main roads through which the convoy of the President is likely to pass gets the makeover, the remaining roads are still unrepaired and forgotten as ever.
