Coronavirus Outbreak: CM Sonowal Donates 1 Month's Salary to PM-CARES Fund

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has donated one month's salary to the PM-CARES Fund to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking to his Twitter handle, CM Sonowal wrote, "A small contribution towards #PMCARES fund — my one month salary. Together we will defeat #COVID19."

The amount donated to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund or PM-CARES Fund will be used to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, many prominent leaders from the opposition as well as from the ruling party have donated generously to the cause.

It is to be mentioned that Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju has also donated one month's salary over and above PM Modi's directive to all BJP MPs to contribute Rs 1 crore from MPLAD funds in the country's fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
