Assam Govt Suspends Morning Assembly, Excursions in Educational Institutions

GUWAHATI: With reference to the awareness of Novel Corona (COVID-19) which is a deadly contagious virus that had affected large section of the population globally, the Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Preetom Saikia has issued directive to the Director of Higher Education, Secondary Education and Elementary Education.
 
Considering the urgency, the notification stated, to immediately issue necessary instructions to all the Educational Institutions in the State under each respective administrative jurisdiction, to take the following preventive measures as mentioned below: 

(i) There shall not be any form of 'Morning Assembly' in the Schools/Colleges/ Higher Educational institutions etc. 

(ii) No exhibitions, etc. shall be organised in the Schools/Colleges/ Higher Educational institutions etc. 

(iii) No Excursions or exposure visits shall be undertaken by the Schools/Colleges/ Higher Educational institutions etc. 

(iv) Awareness, sensitization of the students and enforcement of preventive interventions amongst the students by the Teachers such as 

(a) Frequent hand wash that should start with the commencement of Classes 

(b) Respiratory etiquette [using hankers-chief over mouth while coughing/sneezing] and avoid gatherings etc. 

(v) The heads of the institutions will ensure necessary sanitation measures accordingly. 

The above stated preventive measures are issued in Public interest and should be made effective, immediately and shall remain in force till 15th April, 2020.
