Coronavirus Lockdown: ASTC Provides Relief to Stranded Passengers

GUWAHATI: Amidst the coronavirus crisis in Assam, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) provided transport to all those incoming passengers who reached Assam on the day of 'Janata Curfew' on March 22 and subsequently on March 23 and 24 by train and by air.

It is to be mentioned that private public transport, taxi, Ola, Uber etc were not available due to Janata Curfew and subsequently due to the decisions taken by various private players and associations not to operate vehicles in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus; many passengers were left stranded.

Meanwhile, ASTC provided more than 500 buses to provide transport to incoming passengers to avoid public inconvenience and disorder at the airport and railway station.

Passengers were received from Guwahati and provided transport for Barak Valley, Agartala, Shillong, Karbi Anglong, Central Assam, North Assam, Upper Assam and Lower Assam.
