GUWAHATI: The Guwahati police have dismantled a network of copper wire thieves and illegal dump yards in the city on October 20. In an operation led by teams from East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) and Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD), over 130 kilogram of suspected stolen copper wires were recovered, and three individuals were arrested.

A team from Basistha Police Station raided dump yards in Sawkuchi and Beharbari, resulting in the recovery of 95 kilograms and 21 kilograms of copper wires, respectively. Two suspects, identified as Ainul Haque (27) from Barpeta and Faizur Rahman (44) from Asamkata, were arrested during the operation.
Meanwhile, another team from Satgaon Police Station continued the special drive and raided additional dump yards, seizing 15 kilograms of suspected stolen copper wires. One Saddam Hussain (30), a resident of Kalgachia, was apprehended.
Legal action has been initiated against all three accused.
