Congress MLA Slits Hand In State Assembly to Protest Against Closure of Paper Mills

GUWAHATI: Congress MLA from Mariani, Rupjyoti Kurmi, in a shocking expression of anger, wrote slogans with his blood at Assam Legislative Assembly premises on December 3.

According to reports, the MLA was protesting against Assam government inaction on the nagoan and chachar paper mills.

Further Kurmi also voiced against the closure of Hatimari Tea Estate and Namrup Fertilizer Plant among others. 

Kurmi in his blood wrote, "In the name of Jati, Mati, Bheti we would not allow to sell off Assamese sentiments and future." "Joi Aai Axom," he added.

Earlier Kurmi was suspended from the Assam Assembly by the Speaker on Novemner 30 for creating noisy scenes in the House over illegal coal mining issue in the state.
