GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal handed over a cheque of Rs. 20 lakh to Assam Rifles martyr Pranay Kalita’s wife on August 2.

Taking to his Twitter handle, CM Sonowal wrote, "Havildar Pranay Kalita of the Assam Rifles, showed exemplary valour in the line of duty & attained martyrdom in Manipur. Visited his native village Ghatbar Saderi in Bajali & offered shraddhanjali to the Veer Swahid. His supreme sacrifice will inspire generations."
Earlier on July 29, Pranay Kalita along with few others from Assam Rifles, while on duty, was targeted by the PLA militant group in Manipur’s Chandel district.
