CM Sonowal Distributes Revolving Fund To 4,465 Women SHGs

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ceremonially distributed revolving fund to 4,465 women SHGs and 25 Area Level Federations in Guwahati on Monday, August 5.

With an aim to reduce poverty and vulnerability of urban poor households, revolving fund of Rs 25,000 each was distributed to 600 SHGs and Rs 10,000 each to 3,865 SHGs of 90 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). Also, 25 Area Level Federations were provided Rs 50,000 each at the programme.

The CM also handed over engagement letters to 20 Community Organisers under DAY-NULM and released the quarterly newsletter on the occasion.

Speaking during the occasion, the CM said that women have been playing a crucial role in socio-economic development of rural as well as urban areas of Assam. He urged the SHGs to utilise the fund properly for creating self employment opportunities.

Elaborating on government’s initiatives for skill development and empowerment of women, the CM urged women and youths to take advantage of schemes like Skill India and acquire skills in various sectors.
