GUWAHATI: Tensions flared up at Guwahati University as a clash erupted between members of the Guwahati University Students' Union and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

The confrontation occurred outside the BKB Auditorium.

Around 150 students from Guwahati University Students' Union were protesting against the CAA around 10 am when members of the ABVP were having a programme in the auditorium, according to a source from Gauhati University.
Talking to GPlus, the source said, "The clash began when a member of the ABVP used disrespectful language towards the protesting students around 1:00 p.m. When asked to apologise, they refused and started tearing down banners. The ABVP had about 500 members while the Gauhati University students' group consisted of around 150 students."
"At least 6 students were injured in the clash", the source added.
