CID Assam Arrests 3 in Connection With SI Exam Paper Leak

GUWAHATI: C.I.D., Assam Police has arrested three persons in connection with the Sub Inspector (SI) examination question paper leak.


CID arrested one Hirakjyoti Barua and forwarded him to Court on Wednesday, September 23. 


He has been arrested in connection with CID P.S. Case No. 21/2020 U/S 120B/409 IPC R/W Sec 66 B of IT Act. 


"The arrested person was a candidate in this examination and had collected the answer sheet and had forwarded it," stated CID officials. 


Another accused, Kushal Das, has been arrested from Bamundi in Kamrup district. 


Further, the third accused Sanjib Sarma has been detained from Jyotinagar.


CID also recovered question papers from 'Thank You lodge' in Ganeshguri, Guwahati. 


Investigation of the case is under progress as the officials are now interrogating the owners of the lodge.


The written test for recruitment of sub-inspector (SI) of police (UB) in Assam Police, was cancelled on September 20, as the question paper was leaked. 


Meanwhile, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the Chairman of the state-level police recruitment board to hold Sub Inspector (SI) recruitment written examination within one month in a transparent manner.
