After the residence, Tarun Gogoi's mortal remain is set to be taken into Rukminigaon Church for a prayer service.

Following this, the procession will be held from under the Ganeshguri Bridge towards B. Borooah Road and Zoo Road. After the procession, the former CM's body will be taken to Zoo Road Naamghar and then the funeral procession will proceed for Burha Masjid in Ambari.

The last stop will be the Shukleshwar Temple, after which the mortal remains will be brought in to Ugratora crematorium.

In an interview with Indian Express, Gogoi once told "Our real Hinduism does not teach us to hate other faiths. The Assamese brand of Hinduism has taught us to be secular and tolerant. Assamese Hindus do not despise people of other faiths.” His last journey demonstrates such ethics which he cherished while serving as a Chief Minister.

Speaking to G Plus about Tarun Gogoi's remains visiting different faith establishments, Father Abraham of the Catholic Cathedral Dispur said, "The Catholic church believes there are different ways to attain salvation. Tarun Gogoi understood that in his life."
