GUWAHATI: Assam State Zoo today had the privilege of having Officials of Chimelong Zoo, China for an exposure and exchange tour on Friday.
In the meeting, the officials of Chimelong Zoo have agreed to exchange a Zebra and a Giraffe for two Rhinos from the Assam State Zoo.
The officials from both the countries exchanged their views and reviewed the Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical garden.
The Assam State Zoo currently houses 6 One-Horned Rhinos of which, the Assam Zoo Officials have agreed to part way with two Rhinos, to accommodate the Zebra and the Giraffe.
In a recent survey, the number of Greater One-Horned Rhinos in Kaziranga National Park increased by 12 since 2015, totaling 2,413.
