GUWAHATI: All the festivals in Meghalaya including the Cherry Blossom festival have been cancelled due to the firing incident on the Assam-Meghalaya border at Mukroh Village, today, November 22, according to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
A tweet by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma read, "As a mark of respect & mourning for the deceased, the State Govt has decided to cancel all official festivals including the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival Hon’ble Home Minister, LahkmenR has reached the spot of the incident & FIR has been registered by the MeghalayaPolice."
Sangma further added that the place where the incident took place is well within Meghalaya and an FIR has been filed.
It was also informed that six people died in the incident and two others have been seriously injured.
