The event, which was organised by Assam Bhawan Chennai, Directorate of Cultural Affairs, and Assam Association Chennai,  brought together prominent personalities from the Assamese and North-Eastern communities.

The event paid tribute to the legendary singer, composer, and filmmaker, Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, often referred to as the "Bard of Brahmaputra." A special program featuring renditions of his iconic songs, like "Manuhe Manuhor Babe" and "Dil Hoom Hoom Kare," was organised to honour his enduring legacy.

Bhaxa Gaurav Hapta, a week-long celebration dedicated to the Assamese language, was a highlight of the event. This initiative aims to recognize the rich literary heritage of Assamese and encourage its preservation. The celebrations included a variety of cultural programs, such as recitations, discussions, and musical performances, providing a platform for both the youth and the elderly to engage with the language and its traditions.

Esteemed guests, including Wapang Toshi, President of the Northeast Welfare Association & NCF, and Prithiviraj Singh Tamo, President of Chennai Manipur Forum, graced the occasion. They emphasised the importance of preserving cultural traditions and fostering unity among the diverse communities of Northeast India.
