GUWAHATI: In a notification issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on 24th August last, the validity of motor vehicle documents has been extended till 31st December 2020.
The documents referred to include all documents under Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 including fitness, permits (all types), driving license, registration or any other concerned document(s).

The guidelines of the union ministry read, "The validity of all the referred documents whose extension of validity could not or not likely be granted due to lockdown and which had expired since 1st February, 2020 or would expire by 31st December, 2020, the same may be treated to be valid till 31st December, 2020. Enforcement authorities are advised to treat such documents valid till 31st December, 2020."
