In the notice issued by the Ministry of Tourism, service providers have been urged to assist in travel rescheduling, as well as waiving cancellation charges to facilitate the safe and smooth return of affected travellers. Several travel platforms and industry associations were mentioned, including MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Goibibo, ClearTrip, EaseMyTrip, Ixigo, Airbnb, Agoda, Thrillophilia, Booking.com, Expedia, and others.
The directive was issued a day after 26 people, including two foreign nationals, were killed in one of the worst militant attacks in the region in recent years. The attackers, believed to be linked to The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, opened fire on a group of tourists at the popular Baisaran meadow, causing widespread panic and national outrage.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched operations to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
