GUWAHATI: The Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced the approval of ₹421.15 Crores for the construction of a 4-lane Gauripur Bypass along NH-17 (New)/NH-31(Old) in Assam. The bypass will stretch from Dumardoha Pt-II to the Baladmara road in Dhubri district, covering a total length of 9.61 kilometres.

The primary objective of the project is to ease congestion in Gauripur town and address the hazards posed by sharp bends on the existing highway. By enhancing safety measures, the bypass aims to mitigate risks associated with accidents and improve overall road safety in the region.

Once implemented, the Gauripur Bypass, equipped with comprehensive road safety features, is expected to make a substantial contribution to reducing accidents and enhancing transportation efficiency in the area.
