GUWAHATI: A Rs 59,000 crore Post Matric Scholarship scheme for scheduled caste (SC) students was approved by the central government on 23rd December last.
"Today’s Cabinet decision on post-matric scholarship will ensure greater educational access to youngsters belonging to SC communities. Ensuring top quality and affordable education to our youth is an important focus area for our Government," tweeted the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The scheme provides financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.

The approval of Rs 59,000 crore Post Matric Scholarship schemes for SC students by Union Cabinet will greatly benefit the economically weak & enable them to dream big. Thank you PM Shri @narendramodi ji & Shri@TCGEHLOT ji," tweeted the Assam Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal.
