The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), announcing the decision in a statement on November 2 said, "The exams as and when they are conducted, will be in the written mode and not in an online mode. The exams will be conducted following all Covid protocols."

It further stated that alternative ways will be explored for students who are unable to appear for the practical examinations.

However, the dates of the examinations are yet to be decided. The board is to hold a consultation with the teachers, students, and guardians on December 10 in this regard. After further discussions with the states and union territories, the final decision will be taken by the education ministry.

"The biggest challenge is to study with better resolve and will, and to release the results on time so that students do not waste an entire academic year. For the better future of students, it is necessary to conduct examinations across the country on time," said Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
