GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has assumed responsibility for probing 27 First Information Reports (FIRs) connected to the recent wave of ethnic clashes in Manipur, which have tragically resulted in over 160 casualties over the course of nearly four months, reports stated.
The CBI has officially taken charge of 27 cases transferred to it by the state police. These cases encompass a range of offences, including 19 instances of crimes against women, three cases linked to an audacious mob-led raid on an armoury, two cases of murder, and one each of rioting, murder and kidnapping, along with general criminal conspiracy.
According to reports, the agency has re-registered these cases for its own investigation. However, owing to the delicate and sensitive nature of the prevailing situation in the northeastern state, the intricate details of these cases have not been publicly disclosed.
