CBI Likely To Probe Junmoni Rabha Accident Case

GUWAHATI: New information continues to emerge daily in the Junmoni Rabha accident case. The young SI of Assam Police died in a suspicious road accident on May 16.

The CID is investigating the incident's suspicious circumstances, considering the possibilities of murder, suicide, or accident.

In response to several demands for a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) inquiry into the matter, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his willingness to comply and said that if Rabha's family desires, the case will be transferred to the CBI.

Debabrat Saikia, the leader of the Opposition in the Assam Assembly, conveyed to G Plus that an inquiry conducted by a central agency, such as the CBI, would ensure a proper investigation rather than one led by the Assam Police.

Saikia said that as the names of several effluent Assam Police personnel are linked to the case, a CBI investigation would ensure an impartial investigation.

Simultaneously, the Aam Aadmi Party in Assam staged a protest in Guwahati on Friday, demanding a CBI inquiry into the incident.

The AAP members expressed their dissatisfaction with the failure of the Assam Home Department and criticised the police for their inability to provide adequate public security.

On the other hand, Sibsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi suspected foul play in the incident and called for a CBI investigation.

A Raijor Dal delegation met Junmani Rabha's family and claimed the incident was part of a larger conspiracy.

While numerous individuals have voiced similar demands, CM Sarma's statement has raised the possibility of a CBI inquiry into the incident.

Taking to their social media accounts, several netizens have also expressed their satisfaction after the CM's statement and said that only a CBI inquiry could potentially unveil many hidden truths.
