CBI Court Denies Bail To Sumi Borah In Assam Trading Scam Case

 

GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court dismissed the bail application of Sumi Borah on Tuesday, November 19. Borah, along with her husband Tarkik Borah, is accused of being a key player in a multi-crore investment scam in Assam.

Sumi and Tarkik Borah were arrested on September 12 after surrendering to the police in Dibrugarh. The couple had been absconding since the scandal first came to light.  

The bail pleas of other accused individuals, Bishal Phukan, Shubanjyoti Kurmi, and Chandan Nath, are set to be heard by the same court on Wednesday.  

The CBI initiated its investigation into the online trading scams across Assam on October 18, deploying a team to Dibrugarh. The agency is currently handling 41 cases connected to these fraudulent activities, which are believed to involve crores of rupees.
